Plumbing Code Development Administrator

Candidate responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Serve as staff liaison to the Uniform Plumbing Code Technical Committee.
  • Serve as an advisory capacity and assist the Uniform Plumbing Code Technical Committee to achieve compliance with regulations regarding the ANSI process.
  • Direct contact with support staff and provide guidance and assistance when needed.
  • Organize, prioritize, assign, disseminate and implement procedures, tasks, projects, goals, objectives and activities in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Provide support to members, committees and industry personnel in the code development process.
  • Implement timelines for code development and publications of the Uniform Plumbing Code and ancillary documents.
  • Coordinate and attend task group and technical committee meetings as staff liaison to the Uniform Plumbing Code.
  • Serve as staff liaison to IAPMO non-consensus committees.
  • Provide technical support for all relating issues regarding the Uniform Plumbing Code including oral and written interpretations.
  • Work closely with various industries and committees to provide industry specific related reports and information as assigned.
  • Prepare code development proposals and comments for consideration through the Uniform Plumbing Code Technical Committee.

 

Skills:

Candidate must possess extensive experience in the plumbing industry with interest in the development of plumbing codes as it relates to the implementation of minimum standards, training and technical articles. Individual must have strong leadership skills along with code development or related industry experience. Candidate must be proficient with general office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook. Candidate must also possess strong editing, technical writing ability, research, retrieve and verify industry information.


Education:
Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering or advance continuing education with five or more year’s experience in the plumbing industry.

Senior Plumbing Engineers / Designers 

 

Walsh Engineers, a San Diego-based Mechanical Engineering firm specializing in HVAC, Plumbing and Power Generation/Co-Generation, is searching for Senior Plumbing Engineers/Designers for their San Diego and Phoenix offices.

 

This position of Senior Plumbing Engineer/Designer will perform and manage the flow of plumbing design work from project inception to completion.  The person to fill this role must be a team-builder, a mentor/coach to a team of project engineers, designers, and CAD personnel; absolutely must have the ability to be an advisor to our clients and build strong and sustainable relationships with them.  There will always be an emphasis on maintaining a high-quality work-product and superior client focus.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Senior Plumbing Engineering/Designer responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following areas:

 

1.      Routine plumbing design - the right candidate should possess and apply a high-level understanding of plumbing codes, including natural gas design, medical gas design, commercial kitchens, and similar projects.

2.      Oversee the updating of the current plumbing design and CAD standards, and develop ongoing maintenance policies and procedures for each.

3.      Perform project quality assurance reviews on projects prior to construction.

4.      Maintain company Engineering and Design Practices and Standards -- quality assurance in both processes and procedures.

5.      Team-builder, mentor and coach to teammates.

6.      Drive the focus to create and sustain quality results and customer service.

Additional attributes sought include strong writing skills, with the capability to produce significant reports and studies, perform data analyses, and communicate effectively with clients, equipment vendors, construction contractors, etc. 


The ideal candidate must be a hard worker, have strong engineering and people-serving skills. A minimum of five years experience and registration as a Professional Engineer (California/Arizona) is desired, though other experience may be considered. The candidate must be detail oriented and possess the ability to see projects through to completion.
