ASPE OC President Message
February 2012

Hello Members (and should be members)!

First, I would like to say thank you to everyone that came out for the January meeting. The meeting attendance was great, which is always nice to see for the beginning of the year. We hope that the upcoming meetings continue to see more people attending.

At our January meeting, Mr. Bob Guenther and his ICC followers gave a great presenta-tion on the 2012 International Mechanical and Fuel Gas Code changes. Many people thought this would probably not be that interesting because it was not about plumbing, but Bob worked the presentation around many of the code changes that affect the plumbing trades as well as some past experience he has had with code officials. Thank you very much for your presentation Bob, and enjoy your retirement!

We as a chapter we would like to welcome our newest members, Mr. Jeff Hill from Tyco Fire Protection Products and Mr. Jon Houchin from Pan-Pacific Plumbing. Thank you both for choosing the Orange County chapter for your memberships. This is very important for our chapters’ growth. Please help us welcome them to the chapter at our next meeting.

Not to repeat myself, but please remember the following from my previous President’s Message:

Our chapter is going to offer an ASPE-OC library for our members to borrow an ASPE book for the use of up to one month at no charge. The books will be kept at my office and there will be a checkout procedure for all of the period-icals. At deposit of $20 per book will be collected and then returned after the book is returned. This is just to cover the cost of books that don’t seem to make it back to our library. Also in 2012, we are going to have an ASPE-OC book sale. We will be offering most of the ASPE books at a signifi-cant discount. There will be an order form available online, so you can view which books will be available. The order will be taken with payment and once the books have ar-rived, we will inform you that they are ready for pick up. So, please take a minute and look over the order form when you get a chance. You can build your own ASPE library of reference materials for a savings close to $450.

Finally and probably most importantly… On May 11th, 2012, the Annual ASPE-OC/ASPE-LA Spring Golf Tour-nament will take place at Westridge Golf Course in La Ha-bra with registration starting at 6:00am. The tournament was moved from Los Serranos to help people with the com-mute home and to hopefully improve the experience. Please take a minute to review the sponsorship page in this month’s newsletter. If you do not know, this is our biggest fundraiser of the year and it is an integral part to our suc-cess. If you have not had a chance to play Westridge, it is a nice course with a touch of a challenge. Please help out and sponsor a hole or recruit a sponsor to help out the chapter. On a side note…I played the course on Super Bowl Sunday and it was in great shape!

We hope to see everyone on the February 29th meeting for Pre-Action and Clean Agent Fire Suppression Systems.

Carpe Diem,
